Hello, I’m Charles Lee Knuckles, and my story will
challenge hopelessness and give an answer for the reasons
for hope in troubled times and troubled lives.

I was orphaned at the age of two and I became a product
of the streets at the age of five, moving from one  foster
family to another. I never fully understood family values,
how to manage my emotions, or what it meant to be
somebody. Until I trusted God, I walked through life
                                                     confused and not knowing it.

For almost fifty years of my life, I was troubled and operated in one
mistaken belief system after another. I suffered low self-esteem, lack of hope, addictions, low self-worth
and participated in criminal activity. I gave up on education and I could not rightly relate with other
human beings. Many thought there was no cure for me, no relief, and that I would never change. But
change did happen, and we of The Alumni Group have the key to that change through our experience.
We also have the language needed to convey the change to those who now think as we did when we were
making the same mistakes they are making now. If you took The Alumni Group apart, you would find the
common thread in our DNA as brothers is that we are all faithful servants of The Lord Jesus Christ.

The service we mentors of The Alumni Group offer is changing life time behaviors that continue to
plague good sober men and keep them from right relationships, (Relationships with God, family, career,
and romance). Our hope is to change the face of the inner city and its suburbs by presenting the solution
to destructive practices of men without hope. We mentor hope with practical application.  We do not
believe the judicial system can punish men into hope or rehabilitation. Further, families will not find
answers or solutions in exiling loved ones. Only the experience, strength, and the reason for hope
possessed by someone who has been there can give the answers. That’s what worked for me and inspired
me to educate myself to be a better me for God and those whose lives come in contact with mine. Today I
am a taxpayer, useful to my family and my country, honest, and a man people can count on to do the right
thing. I cannot place a value on mentoring, it’s priceless.

Yours in Christ:
Charles Lee Knuckles
